Antony and the Johnsons will release the live record Cut the World August 6 on Rough Trade in the UK and August 7 through Secretly Canadian in the U.S. The album is made up of symphonic versions of songs primarily from the band’s four full-length studio albums, recorded last September in Copenhagen, Denmark with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. That’s the cover art, above.
The title track, which has not been released before, is from the stage show The Life and Death of Marina Abramovi?. The track “Future Feminism”, which can be heard below, features a speech made by Antony promoting a shift away from patriarchy and toward a more feminine mode of global governance. He spoke about these ideas in our recent interview about the Meltdown Festival he’s curating; read it here.
