The Boss plays electrifying classics set at halftime show
“Ladies and gentlemen for the next 12 minutes we’re going to bring the righteous and mighty power of the E Street Band into your beautiful home!†the singer yelled. “I want you to step back from the guacamole, I want you to put the chicken fingers down and turn your television all the way up!â€
Leaping upon a grand piano,Springsteen continued: “And what I wanna know is: is anybody alive out there? Is there anybody alive out there?â€
The band then launched into a high-octane rendition of ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out’ from his solo album ‘Born To Run’, following it with the title track from the 1975 album.
The Boss took the opportunity to promote his new album with the third track, when he was joined by a choir for a performance of ‘Working On A Dream’, the lead single from the album of the same name, which was released on Tuesday (January 27).
He changed the lyrics to final track ‘Glory Days’, singing “I had a friend was a big football player, back in high schoolâ€, joking with Little Steventhat they were going into penalty time as the song completed the 12-minute set.Â
The set ended with an enormous pyrotechnics display as Springsteenyelled ‘I’m going to Disneyland!’, in reference to the fact that the event is taking place in Florida
