As synth pioneers The Human League head out on their ‘A Very British Synthesizer Group’ tour in November and December 2016, we’re delighted to announce an accompanying anthology in three formats. Available from November 18th on 2CDs, a 3LP set and as a 3CD/DVD Super Deluxe Box, ‘A Very British Synthesizer Group’ charts the history of the band from their emergence as futuristic outriders of a new post-punk sound, through the phenomenon of ‘Dare’ and ’80s chart dominance, their incredible ’90s renaissance and ascendancy to their current position as one of the most glorious and glamorous live acts in the country.
The four-disc sound and vision anthology comes in deluxe 12″ by 12″ hardcover packaging with a foldout wallet containing three CDs and a DVD. CDs 1 and 2 take a chronological ride through all of the band’s singles and includes seven previously unreleased Radio / DJ edits. Meanwhile CD3 gathers together 17 previously unreleased outtakes and rarities.
The DVD contains 21 promo videos plus 24 BBC performances.The box set also comes with a 58-page hardback book featuring a new essay from Bowie / Kraftwerk biographer David Buckley, memorabilia and rare photos. The art direction and sleeve illustrations come from renowned Sheffield artist Pete McKee.
Similarly “deluxe” is the LP box set version which rounds up all the singles on three discs, pressed onto top-quality 180 gram vinyl, specially remastered at Abbey Road Studios at half-speed for extra fidelity and maximum sound quality. The package comes in a hardback slipcase with a 20-page booklet featuring a new essay by David Buckley plus rare memorabilia and photographs.
