New material from the Decemberists may be on the way, and they’re rolling it out old school. Frontman Colin Meloy announced via Twitter that he’ll be busking new Decemberists songs on the streets of New York City this morning (October 24).
Positioned at the corner of Bedford and 7th, he’s “the bearded and bespectacled guy.”
While the band have whetted fans’ appetites with a live album and their Long Live the King EP, the Decemberists haven’t released a proper full-length studio album since 2011’s The King Is Dead.
Meloy’s promise of new songs is an exciting one, we just hope his busking experience is slightly more successful than Erykah Badu’s. She tried her hand at the age-old musical tradition last week and ended up pocketing a whopping $3.60.
