BELLE AND SEBASTIAN

Scotland may not have achieved independence in their referendum earlier this month, but they still have plenty to be proud of. Take, for example, Glaswegian indie pop greats Belle and Sebastian, whose long, illustrious career continues with the impending arrival of their ninth studio album.

The LP, a follow-up to their 2010 effort Write About Love, is called Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance.

The record was recorded in Atlanta, GA, by Ben H. Allen III, who has previously worked with artists as disparate as Gnarls Barkley and Animal Collective. There was additional mixing completed by longtime collaborator Tony Doogan in Glasgow, and then it was mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance is scheduled to arrive via Matador on January 19. In addition, the label is currently in the midst of an expansive reissue campaign, with new vinyl pressings of 10 albums from the Belle and Sebastian catalogue due out October 7.
