Coldplay’s sixth album ‘Ghost Stories’ has been named the top-selling album of 2014 so far by the Official Charts Company.
The record was released in May and sold 168,000 copies in its first week. It has since sold in excess of 375,000 copies to date. Altogether, the band have sold 11.1 million albums in the UK since the release of their debut, 2000’s ‘Parachutes’.
Next highest-selling is Paolo Nutini’s ‘Caustic Love’, with 329,000 sales, and Ellie Goulding’s 2012 album ‘Halcyon’, which was reissued in an expanded version as ‘Halcyon Days’ and has sold 275,000 copies so far this year.
Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 album ‘AM’ appears on the chart at Number 10.
