Bono and The Edge of U2 are working with Once director John Carney on a new musical film based on his childhood.
The Weinstein Company today confirmed that Bono and The Edge will contribute music to Sing Street. The film is based loosely on events from Carney’s youth, focussing on a boy who uses music to help him cope as his life is changed when he moves from a posh private school to the inner-city.
U2 won a Golden Globe earlier this year for their song ‘Ordinary Love’, taken from Nelson Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
The band are also believed to be working on a new studio album. A spokesperson for the band recently denied that the band have pushed back the release date of their 13th studio album to 2015.
