Last September, we noted that Sigur Rós would make an appearance on the fourth season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”. It’s not just rabid fandom drawing them to the show: They’ll be covering “The Rains of Castamere” for the show’s soundtrack, as Consequence of Sound points out (via Film Music Reporter). That’s the band posing with “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin above, via their Instagram.
“The Rains of Castamere” was previously recorded by the National. In the show, it’s used when something terrible is about to happen. (Don’t let that inform your own enjoyment of the song, though.) Listen to a short preview over at Amazon. It’ll be available on April 13, according to Amazon.
