Roger Daltrey admits that some of the concepts behind The Who’s rock operas left him a bit confused initially.
Speaking in our new issue, Q333 out now, the singer explains that when Pete Townshend first explained some of the ideas behind Tommy or Quadrophenia he was lost.
“Did I have to ask him what the hell he was on about? All the time [laughs],” explains Daltrey.
“But equally, there’s always one sentence that comes out of that rambling brain of his that you can grasp.
“With Tommy it was: Imagine living life where you can only feel vibrations” and I could latch on to that.”
