To celebrate this new release, Okkervil River will start their European tour this week on November 16th. The band just wrapped a 6-week tour in the States. While on the road, they had a couple of TV appearances, along with a slew of radio sessions. Here are the highlights:

CONAN: Okkervil River performed “Down Down The Deep River” on CONAN.

CBS This Morning’s “Second Cup Cafe”: Will Sheff performed acoustic versions of “Down Down The Deep River” and “Black Nemo”.

NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert: The band performed “On A Balcony”, “Pink Slips”, and “Down Down The Deep River”.

The Current in Minneapolis: The band performed “Black Nemo”, “Down Down The Deep River”, and “Cremation” (Lou Reed cover from the album, Magic and Loss).

KINK in Portland: Okkervil covers Wang Chung’s “Dance Hall Days” along with three tracks from the new album.

And in other Okkervil related news…
The band released two videos for “Stay Young” – an original version and an alternate take. Will Sheff’s electronic leaning project, Lovestreams, created the remix for the alternate video. You can snag a free download of the “Stay Young” (Lovestreams Remix) here.

With the help of Eyes & Ears, Will Sheff created an original 8-bit adventure video game to accompany The Silver Gymnasium. Those who complete the game will receive an EP download featuring expanded mixes of all the 8-bit versions of the songs on The Silver Gymnasium. Play the game at http://www.thesilvergymnasium.com.
