U2.com has confirmed previous reports on this site and elsewhere that the band will release “Ordinary Love” as a 10-inch vinyl single on November 29th. That’s the special Black Friday event organized by the people behind Record Store Day, and includes many artists issuing special, limited edition releases for sale in independent record stores. (“Ordinary Love” is reportedly limited to 10,000 copies.)
In addition to the single itself, U2.com says a new “lyric video” will premiere soon for “Ordinary Love.” It’s being done by Oliver Jeffers, who also did the artwork for the single, and Mac Premo. Jeffers recently shared what looks like a teaser from the video on his Instagram account.
Finally, U2 is now confirmed as part of the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom soundtrack via its listing on Amazon.com. There’s no official track list there, but U2 is mentioned as one of the artists. And Amazon says the soundtrack album will be released on November 25th.
So, to sum up: Movie soundtrack on November 25. Vinyl single on November 29. Lyric video sometime in November. Full song to premiere…who knows? Rumors said that would happen today.
