Neil Young is set to perform at a benefit concert staged by the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea and Anthony Kiedis.
The gig will take place on October 30 in Los Angeles neighbourhood of Silverlake, and is set to raise funds for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which was founded by Flea and offers music lessons to local children and adults. Red Hot Chili Peppers will also play the charity event, reports Billboard. Tickets for the event cost $2,000 (£1,245).
In a statement, Flea commented: “Going into our 13th year of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, flourishing with 700 students as a non-profit community music school, I could not be more grateful for all the people who have helped us out along the way. Having one of my favorite musicians Neil Young perform to help out the school is the greatest blessing! This is gonna be the funnest fundraiser ever! All of us working together, making L.A. a better city, and educating the kids! Yay!”
In August Neil Young & Crazy Horse cancelled their upcoming UK dates, as guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro broke his hand. The band were set to play Liverpool Echo Arena on August 18 and London O2 Arena on August 19, however, both of the shows were pulled. Young and his band also had to pull out of their headline slot at Pukkelpop festival in Belgium and shows in Norway, Denmark and Germany have been cancelled as well.
