After a busy summer that saw the release of singles “Gimme,” “Defriended” and “I Won’t Be Long,” Beck has announced that he will be putting out his 12th studio album Morning Phase early next year. Beck hasn’t released an album since 2008’s Modern Guilt, though he did release a an ‘album’ of sheet music and artwork titled Song Reader last December.
The new album is said to be a “companion piece of sorts” to Beck’s 2002 album Sea Change, which consisted of some of his most contemplative and acoustic tracks. He’s recruiting longtime collaborator Smokey Hormel, as well as Sea Change studio musicians Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner for the upcoming album.
Morning Phase will be released this February via Capitol Records, his first album to be distributed through the imprint.
