After Arcade Fire finished up on “SNL”, where they performed “Reflektor” and “Afterlife”, NBC set aside 30 minutes for the band to debut more new material from Reflektor. As hinted in their teaser for the special, they did “Here Comes the Night Time”, plus two songs that are presumably “We Exist” and “Normal Person”.
Update: Arcade Fire Tube has pointed to audio of the new songs.
The special opened with a trippy sequence featuring giant masks and the band dancing through the streets. There was also elaborate choreography in the audience, plus cameos from Bono, Rainn Wilson, Ben Stiller, Michael Cera, James Franco, Aziz Ansari, Eric Wareheim, Bill Hader, and Zach Galifianakis.
Video has yet to surface from the special, but we’ll update with video as soon as it’s available. Reflektor is out on October 29 through Merge.
