Faber Social have announced the release of a collection of lyrics and personal journal entries from Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis.
The book, So This Is Permanence: Lyrics and Notebooks will be released in the spring of 2014 and will contain a collection of “intensely personal writings of one of the most enigmatic and influential songwriters and performers of the late twentieth century.”
Curtis recorded only two albums with Joy Division before committing suicide in 1980. Curtis spent years dealing with depression, epilepsy and chronic stage fright. Similarly, in 2003, a notebook containing journal entries from Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was published in the Kurt Cobain Journals.
So This Is Permanence will be edited by Jon Savage, who has written England’s Dreaming: Sex Pistols and Punk Rock and Teenage: The Creation of Youth, 1875-1945.
