Photo: PAA new museum dedicated to the life of Johnny Cash staged its official opening yesterday (May 30).

The museum in Nashville, Tennessee, was set up by wife and husband team Shannon and Bill Miller. Speaking to The Tennessean, Shannon commented:

“Elvis has Graceland, but there was really nothing left anymore for us. We really needed to bring it back to Tennessee. We needed to have something for all of the fans. We’re just really happy to be able to tell the fans there’s a place to come celebrate Johnny Cash and be a part of all of the festivities.” The House of Cash museum, which was situated in Johnny Cash’s former home in Hendersonville, was closed and then burned down in 2007 whilst it was being restored.

The new museum features on display clothes worn by Johnny Cash for live performances as well as his records, guitars and other artefacts. For more information, visit the museum’s Facebook page. Former Vice President of the United States Al Gore attended the VIP opening of the museum, and called it a “world class museum, a major tourist attraction and a major tourist destination for the millions of people that love Johnny Cash. A world class collection.”
