Coldplay’s ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ has been named BBC Radio 2 listeners’ all time favourite album.

The 2002 LP came top of a list of 100 albums, which were counted down on the radio station earlier today (April 1) by DJ Jo Whiley.

The Chris Martin-fronted band’s second album beat Keane’s ‘Hopes & Fears’ into second place and Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ into third. Also in the Top 10 were ‘The Dark Side of The Moon’ by Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’. Scroll down to read the full Top 10.

Of the list, Jeff Smith – Radio 2’s head of music – said: “With albums ranging from Sinatra in the 50s to Emeli Sandé in the last year, the range of eras and genres exhibited by the chart is typical of the breadth of Radio 2 and its distinctive music policy.”

He added: “Musicians such as Coldplay and Dido have struck a chord with listeners and are in good company in the Top 10 alongside legendary bands like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, whose appeal remains undiminished after all these years.”
