The Rolling Stones warmed up for their forthcoming arena dates in London and New York with a 12-song intimate gig in Paris last night (October 25).
Earlier this week, Ronnie Wood revealed to NME that the band may perform tiny warm-up gigs under their Cockroaches guise during their breaks from rehearsing in Paris.
“There’s going to be little club gigs that we’re gonna surprise ourselves to do,” he said. “We’ll bung a few in next week or the week after, so look out for any Cockroaches gigs or whatever! I don’t know who we’ll be billed as but we’ll turn up somewhere and put a few to the test. Tiny, 200, 300 people kind of places.”
Just 600 lucky fans got to watch the Stones in full glory last night as they played a string of hits including ‘Tumbling Dice’,’ It’s Only Rock and Roll’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and ‘Brown Sugar’. They also debuted new track ‘Doom And Gloom’.
The Stones hadn’t played together since August 2007, when they finished up their two-year Bigger Bang tour. Tickets for last night’s show cost just £12.
The Rolling Stones played:
‘Route 66’
