Kasabian played their first gig of 2011 tonight (June 4) at O2 Academy Sheffield.
The show was the part of a short warm up tour for their headline slots at RockNess and the Isle Of Wight Festival next weekend (10 and 12)
Kicking off with ‘Club Foot’, the band treated the 2,000 fans present to a hit-packed set that peaked with the now long-traditional singalong to ‘LSF’, and climaxed with ‘Fire’.

The hour-and-a-half set also saw the band debut two new songs from their as-yet-untitled fourth album – ‘Velociraptor’ and ‘Switchblade Smile’, the latter of which will be played for the first time on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show on Tuesday (7).
The band were on energetic form, with frontman Tom Meighan saying he was “glad to be back, as I’m the only one who hasn’t has been busy having a baby!”
Following sessions in London’s British Grove Studios and further work in San Francisco with ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’ producer Dan The Automator, the new Kasabian album is finished and is set to be released in October.
Guitarist and songwriter Serge Pizzorno (pictured right) recently described the record as “the best we have ever done by miles”.
Before an encore of new song ‘Switchblade Smile’, ‘Stuntman’ (seguing with their ‘I Feel Love’ cover) and ‘Fire’, Pizzorno dedicated main set closer ‘LSF’ to “all the people who camped out overnight to get tickets.”
Kasabian played:
‘Club Foot’
‘Where Did All The Love Go?’
‘Underdog’
‘Shoot The Runner’
‘Velociraptor’
‘Cutt Off’
‘Thick As Thieves’
‘Take Aim’
‘Empire’
‘The Doberman’
‘Fast Fuse’
