The Pixies have revealed that Bono is one of the many fans who has begged them to write some new songs.
The band split in 1993 but reunited in 2004 and have been gigging ever since. However, their last album ‘Trompe le Monde’ was released 20 years ago.
“Bono even asked… He’s like, “Please make a record!”” said the band’s guitarist Joey Santiago.
“Goddamn, we can’t leave that unturned. That would frustrate me. It would. I think we should do it. But it’s up to everybody.”
In an interview with Spinner, drummer David Lovering revealed that the band had simply been happy to play shows since they reunited, adding that the touring had almost become “non-stop”.
However, Santiago suggested that writing new songs might have caused “friction”. Even so, he believes the four piece are now ready to put any problems behind them and begin working on a new album.
“That talk about making a record will be in the forefront next because it’ll be time, you know. It’ll be time. We’ve definitely gelled as a unit and hopefully when we can all bury the hatchet – and we have – maybe we’ll go in there and hope for the best.”
