In November, we reported about Hard Ground, a collection of images of homeless people by photojournalist Michael O’Brien, accompanied by poetry by Tom Waits. Waits’ words in the book are an abridged, rearranged version of a longer poem titled “Seeds on Hard Ground”. Now, Waits is teaming up with his record label, Anti-, to release that poem in full for a good cause.
If you head over to Tom Waits’ site right now, you can read the entire poem. You can also pre-order the limited edition chap book edition of the poem, which will be released on February 22. All proceeds from the poem will benefit the Redwood Food Bank, Sonoma County’s Homeless Referral Services, and Family Support Center run by the Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa.
