Muse rolled out the hits last night (July 3) performing songs such as ‘Plug In Baby’, ‘Hysteria’ and ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ to a packed out Roskilde festival crowd.
Taking to the Orange stage, the set comes a week after their appearance at Glastonbury where they were joined onstage by U2’s The Edge.
Beginning with 2009 single ‘Uprising’, the 90-minutue set also included numerous crowd favourites such as ‘Undisclosed Desires’, ‘Starlight’ and ‘Resistance’, which all had the crowd singing and dancing along.
Also featuring a number of guitar solos and extended jams, the group lead into ‘Time Is Running Out’ with an instrumental version of ‘The House Of The Rising Sun’ (made famous by The Animals), that evoked a mass sing-along from the opening few notes.
Closing with ‘Knights Of Cydonia’, the stage was engulfed with plumes of smoke that shot skyward as the song raced to it’s conclusion.

He added: “This next song is the easiest of our songs to dance to, so if you’ve had your eye on someone, ask them to dance but don’t be too aggressive about it.” The band then launched into ‘A-Punk’.
Also performing songs such as ‘Oxford Comma’, ‘Horchata’ and ‘Cousins’, Koenig thanked the crowd for coming after their penultimate track ‘Mansard Roof’.
“Thanks for taking our Roskilde virginity,” the frontman joked. “Like your real virginity it can be a bit painful and sad, now comes the sad part, enjoy the rest of the festival.”
The group then concluded the set with ‘Walcott’.
