Il Polar Music Prize 2010 è diviso tra Islanda e Italia: una bella coppia davvero quella composta da Bjork e da Ennio Morricone che si sono aggiudicati il premio svedese assegnato ogni anno a un performer pop e a un artista classico. Entrambi sono stati invitati a ritirare il premio del valore di 1 milione di corone (meno di 90mila euro) a Stoccolma nel mese di agosto e che tradizionalmente è soprannominato il Premio Nobel della musica (anche se ha una tradizione molto più recente, essendo stato istituito nel 1989 dal manager degli Abba).
Bjork e Morricone riceveranno il premio dalle mani del re di Svezia Carlo Gustavo XVI nella concert Hall della capitale svedese il 31 agosto.
“Björk è una forza indomabile della natura, un’artista che marcia seguendo il suo ritmo e quello di nessun altroâ€, dice la motivazione del premio per la cantante e attrice islandese, 44 anni.
Morricone, 82 anni, ha composto oltre 400 colonne sonore e ha ricevuto cinque candidature all’Oscar, vincendo nel 2007 quello alla carriera. “Le composizioni e arrangiamenti congeniali di Morricone elevano la nostra esistenza a un altro livelloâ€, ha deliberato il comitato.

Prince to Roskilde Festival
One of the strongest acts in 40 years of festival history has just been confirmed.
Last Thursday’s approx. 60 announced artists are still fresh. Five days later, Roskilde Festival already has an addition – even one with true star status – ready for its audience. A surprise of the kind that separates Roskilde Festival from most other music events in Europe.
PRINCE comes on one of his rare European visits at Roskilde Festival.
“I’ve had to pinch myself many times since last night when everything fell into place. Getting Prince to Roskilde Festival has been on our wish list for years. He’s not a frequent guest at festivals, so it’s a great honour for us. It’s wonderful finally to be able to tell this great news to our audience,” says music director Rikke Øxner.
The rock demigod’s first concert at Roskilde Festival will be one out of only three this summer. The other two take place in Werchter in Belgium and Arras in France, and Roskilde Festival is the only real festival that Prince visits. The American legend has not played in Denmark since 2002.
Today, Roskilde Festival adds a gilt-edged name to its festival poster, whom probably only few dared dream of. But Roskilde Festival’s ambition is to make nearly abandoned dreams come true. And now all festival-goers can look forward to a magical evening in the company of a rock-historic eminence in gold and purple.
