When big music bands visit Brazil, their gig normally takes place in some of the biggest venues there are; after all, the state capital São Paulo is the biggest if not the second biggest city in the world. On Wednesday September 30th Franz Ferdinard played there for the third time, but only for a very selected 1300 people at the exclusive international club The Week.

The Glasgow-based quartet has done some shows in smaller indoor venues like these ones in other countries, this was, however, the first time they did that in São Paulo and fans thanked them very much for that.

The about hour-and-half performance mixed hits from their first two albums with songs from their latest release “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand”. The up-to-your-face venue added an extra amount of energy on the more upbeat tunes, such as “This Fire”, “Do You Want To?” and “No You Girls”.

The popular band closed the set with an eight-minute long “Lucid Dreams” that counted with an electronic instrumental ending to show a little bit of the band’s synth-orientated side, style that has been around since the very beginning of the band according to lead singer Alex Kapranos.

At the end of the night, what could be seen was a bunch of really satisfied fans, craving for more. Franz Ferdinard will be back in 2010 since they already booked several gigs in Brazil and Latin America in order to attend the bigger crowd’s appeals.

On to setlist:

“No You Girls”
“The Dark of the Matinée”
“Walk Away”
“Tell Her Tonight”
“Can’t Stop Feeling”
“Do You Want To”
“Bite Hard”
“This Fire”
“What She Came For”
“Take Me Out”
“Ulysses”
“40 Feet”
“Outsiders”

Encore:

“Michael”
“Van Tango”
“Turn It On”
“Lucid Dreams”
