Pearl Jam record Target commercial

And the band’s new album will come out without a US label
The band’s manager, Kelly Curtis, revealed in an interview that they have secured a deal with the store to be the ‘big box’ retail partner for the release of the record, which is their first since the end of their 18-year contract with Sony.
According to Billboard, the album, which is rumoured to be called‘Backspacer’ will be released through numerous individual avenues including “ an online retailer, a mobile partner, a gaming company and with a network or possibly networks of indie retail stores.â€
Despite Target’s history of exclusively selling albums, Curtissaid that the company agreed to allow other partners on board and are “cool enough to realise that little independent record stores are not their competition.”
“This is an ongoing experiment,” he said “Every time we do something it’s new for us, and were not trying to tackle the whole world at once. All we’ve been searching for forever is independence and control over our own stuff. The way of releasing records is changing every day. This is the best way we could do it ourselves in America. Right or wrong, we’ll figure that out and make it better the next time.”
The first single from the new album is expected next month, with the album slated for a fall release.
Meanwhile, Pearl Jam are the musical guests on tonight’s ‘The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien’. The band will join actor Will Ferrell on the show, which is the first since O’Brien took over from Jay Leno.
