The full line-up Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree – will play Hyde Park on July 3, with rumours of more shows to be announced, including the Glastonbury Festival. These will be Blur’s first live dates since guitarist Coxon quit the band in 2002.
As previously reported, the band who parted after their seventh album, 2003’s Think Tank, are currently rehearsing for next year’s shows, after the long-running feud between frontman Albarn and Coxon has been laid to rest.
Albarn speaking exclusively to Uncut sister title NME, explained: “It just felt it was right again. It somehow feels like there’s something for us to do again, we’re not completely useless or pointless, we’ve got a reason to exist.”
Coxon adding that Blur are “making public what’s been going on a little bit privately. For the benefit of the fans and those interested we can say that something’s on the cards”.
Tickets for the London Hyde Park show on July 3 will go on sale this Friday (December 12) at 9am.
Further dates are expected to be revealed soon.

Noel Gallagher degli Oasis ha detto recentemente che le liti degli anni ‘90 con i Blur sono state patetiche. Entrambe le band inglesi nella metà degli anni ‘90, quando il brit-pop era al massimo della sua forma, si scambiarono numerosi insulti, anche piuttosto pesanti.
Il picco d’odio venne toccato quando “Country House” dei Blur e “Roll With It” degli Oasis si scontrarono in vetta nelle charts inglesi, in un testa a testa clamoroso. “Guardando indietro quelle lotte erano così patetiche… tutto per un po’ di schifoso pop”, ha dichiarato al Guardian il chitarrista. E deve essere vero, tanto che ha ritirato l’augurio di morte per AIDS che al tempo fece a Damon Albarn e Alex James!
Quando gli è stato domandato cosa ne pensi oggi di Albarn, il fratello Gallagher ha risposto: “è un grande artista, molto diverso da me, anche perchè io non sono un artista, quello che creo esce semplicemente da solo”. Ha poi aggiunto: “tra l’altro lui si butta sull’opera cinese e altre cose assurde, fa molte più cose di me. Però c’è sempre stato qualcosa tra lui e me, anche se non so cosa”.
I tempi cambiano, anche per gli Oasis!
