Grimes, Leonard Cohen, Feist and Drake have all been nominated for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, the Canadian equivalent of the UK’s Mercury Music Prize.
Albums by The Weeknd, Azari and III and Fucked Up have also been included on the longlist. The shortlist will be announced on July 16 and the winner will be revealed at a ceremony on September 24.
Arcade Fire won the award last year, picking up the $30,000 (£19,300) prize at the ceremony in Toronto. Fucked Up, Caribou and Final Fantasy are all former winners of the Polaris Music Prize.
