Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ has been named the biggest-selling single of 2013.
The singer’s summer hit has sold well over 1million copies in the UK, reports the Official Official Charts Company, beating Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky to the crown. Providing there’s not a late surge in sales from diehard fans of the French electronic duo, Thicke’s track will most likely remain at the top come the end of the year.
‘Blurred Lines’, which has sold 1.44million copies, has the edge by a few thousand over ‘Get Lucky’, which has sales of 1.28million. In third place is Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up, Passenger’s ‘Let Me Go’ is at Number Four and Naughty Boy, featuring up-and-coming star Sam Smith, is at Number Five with ‘La La La’.
With the Christmas Number One still to be decided, the Official Chart Company has stressed that anything could happen with the Top 5 tracks and, although it’ll need a Christmas miracle, Thicke could possibly be toppled from the Number One spot.
Last year’s biggest-selling single was Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, with 1.32million copies sold in the UK.
