According to bassist Adam Clayton, U2 is a month away from finishing up its forthcoming album, Rolling Stone reports.
Last week, Clayton made an appearance on the Irish radio station 98 FM. Speaking on the Dermot and Dave Show, Clayton said, “We’re in the studio. We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas.”
If what Clayton says is true, then the new U2 record will arrive sometime in early 2014. Clayton described the sound as a more mature twist on the band’s old sound. “I think it’s a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years,” he said. “It’s a combination of those two things and it’s a really interesting hybrid.”
Earlier this year, U2 was seen entering a studio in New York with Coldplay singer Chris Martin, leading to rumors that he would make an appearance on the new album. The band were also seen at Electric Lady Studios over the summer with Danger Mouse, who is producing the record.
