The Rolling Stones are preparing to headline the Saturday night of this year’s Glastonbury. Other artists appearing today (June 29) include Primal Scream, Two Door Cinema Club and Johnny Marr.
Billy Bragg will make his traditional Glastonbury appearance with a lunch time set on The Pyramid Stage, while newcomers Jagwar Ma, The 1975 and Melody’s Echo Chamber will also play early afternoon performances.
Laura Mvula and Brit Award winner Ben Howard will perform on The Pyramid Stage while Elvis Costello will also appear, having first played the festival in 1984. Primal Scream will go on directly before headliners The Rolling Stones, performing tracks from their latest album ‘2013’ as well as fan favorites from their illustrious career.
The Rolling Stones headline performance will mark the band’s first ever appearance on the Glastonbury bill. Speaking about the R&B veterans’ Glastonbury show, guitarist Keith Richards said it was “the culmination of our British heritage. It had to be done and it’s gonna be done. We’ll see what happens.”
Over on the Other Stage, Azealia Banks, Noah and The Whale and Alabama Shakes will perform, before Two Door Cinema Club take to the stage. The Other Stage will be headlined by Chase & Status. Elsewhere on the site, Haim, Fuck Buttons, The Strypes, Savages, Johnny Marr, Everything Everything, Major Lazer, Public Enemy and AlunaGeorge will appear.
