According to the story which is circulating in the media today, rocker Keith Richards allegedly hit journalist Markus Larsson in the head after a spat between the two men escalated during an interview.
The story claims that Richards attacked the journalist only ten minutes into the interview, and Larsson is quoted as saying, “He stood up and asked if we would put out the lights and settle the disagreement straight away. At first I was just surprised, I thought he was pulling my leg, but then I realized he was serious and then I felt uncomfortable and I just wanted to get out of there pretty fast,” by ‘popeater.com’.
The article goes on to say that Richards told Larsson after the attack, “You’re lucky to get out of here alive.” The feud was supposedly started back in 2007 when Larsson said that the ‘Rolling Stones’ were “amateurs”. Although Richards demanded a public apology, Larsson responded, “I am not going to apologize for my subjective opinion … It is Keith who should apologize. After all it costs around $145 to see a rock star who can hardly handle the (guitar) riff to ‘Brown Sugar’ any more.”
But despite the story of the attack being printed throughout the media, Keith Richard’s publicist denies it ever happened, according to ‘Planet Rock’. The spokesman, who was in the room at the time of the interview stated, “at the conclusion of the 20min interview KR jokingly tapped the journalist on the head after his questions got a bit silly. From the people in the room during the interview they would suggest that the writer has allowed his imagination to get the better of him.”

Italian officials have defended spending a reported £640,000 of EU public funding money on an Elton John gig. The donated cash was initially to be used for regional development in the country, and some MP’s have complained that a gig by the Rocket Man doesn’t really constitute that. However, Dario Scalabrini, a former head of the region of Campania’s tourism office, remained impressively defiant. “I don’t understand the problem,” he said. “We would have used EU funds to pay (Paul) McCartney too,” (Guardian).
