Them Crooked Vultures got Roskilde rocking tonight (July 2), performing tracks from their self-titled debut album.
Headlining the Orange stage, the group, which features Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones, were also joined by Alain Johannes on guitar.
Crowd favourites from the set included ‘Mind Eraser, No Chaser’ and ‘New Fang’, although a number of extended jams and solos during the show, kept the audience moving and cheering along throughout.
“I wish you could see from here,” Homme said to the crowd. “You look absolutely beautiful.”
Capping off a day that saw appearances by Alice In Chains, Biffy Clyro and Florence And The Machine, the supergroup rounded off the set with ‘New Fang’, before joining each other at the front of the stage to bow to the audience.
Them Crooked Vultures played:
‘No One Loves Me And Neither Do I’
‘Dead End Friends’
‘Scumbag Blues’
‘Elephants’
‘Gunman’
‘Warsaw Or The First Breath You Take After You Give Up’
‘Caligulove’
‘Mind Eraser, No Chaser’
‘Spinning In Daffodils’
‘New Fang’
Earlier in the day, Delphic performed a highly energetic set on the Pavilion stage.
Playing songs from their 2009 debut album ‘Acolyte’, the Stockport four-piece arrived onstage to huge cheers, only to leave shortly after because of technical issues.
“We’ve been Delphic, hope you have a fucking great time,” multi-instrumentalist Richard Boardman quipped before the band left.
Arriving back onstage after a few minutes, the false start only served to allow time for the tent to fill up more, which resulted in an even warmer reception than they got initially.
Beginning with ‘Clarion Call’, the group then seamlessly played previous single ‘Doubt’, followed by ‘Red Lights’, which got the crowd bouncing from the off.
“You were wonderful,” frontman James Cook said to the audience after playing a reworked version of ‘This Momentary’. “You’ve made our day.”
Delphic played:
‘Clarion Call’
‘Doubt’
‘Red Lights’
‘Submission’
‘Halcyon’
‘This Momentary’
‘The Momentary’ (Reprise)
‘Counterpoint’
‘Remain’
‘Acolyte’
