The Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed, Moe Tucker and Doug Yule staged a rare reunion in New York on Tuesday (December 8) to take part in a question and answer session.

The talk took place at the New York Public Library in front of a live audience, and at one point saw Reed hail Tucker as the greatest drummer he has ever worked with.

Watch fan-recorded video footage of the event by scrolling down now.

“I’ve tried since then to get a drummer to do what she did, and it’s impossible. They can’t,” Reed said, reports BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme. “If we sped up, she sped up. Instead of having a drummer who’ll sit there trying to hold the beat down, our songs speed up and slow down all over the place.”

Reed also admitted that the only reason the band got noticed at the start of their career was because people thought Warhol – who managed and ‘adopted’ them – was a member.

“Warhol was one of the greatest people I’ve ever met in my life,” Reed explained. “Without him, [The Velvet Underground were] kind of inconceivable. When they hired us to make a record it wasn’t because of us, it was because of him. They didn’t know us – they thought he was the lead guitarist or something!”

Ronnie Wood has reportedly dumped his girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova – after spending one final night with her. Wood, who was bailed last week after allegedly assaulting Ivanova in Surrey, is said to have invited the 20-year-old to his mansion before calling time on the year-long fling. A source revealed that Ivanova is “totally devastated” by the move (Daily Star).

Kate Moss says she still wears a pair of jeans given to her by Keith Richards – which he bought in Brazil in 1969 (The Sun).
