Coldplay have worked with British producer Paul Epworth on new album ‘Ghost Stories’, it has been revealed.
The band recently announced details of their sixth album and have worked with Epworth for the first time as well as spending time in the studio with regular collaborators Jon Hopkins, Rik Simpson & Dan Green. Epworth produced much of Adele’s hugely successful album ’21’ and has also worked with Paul McCartney, Friendly Fires, Bruno Mars and Florence + The Machine.
Answering fans questions on their official website, Coldplay revealed their hook up with Epworth when asked who the band worked with on ‘Ghost Stories.’ “‘Ghost Stories’ was a collaborative effort,” came the reply. “As you said, Jon produced Midnight, Rik Simpson & Dan Green were of course involved and Paul Epworth also worked on the album. Guy actually did a lot of the production this time round.”
The British band will release ‘Ghost Stories’ on May 19, 2014. The album is available to pre-order from iTunes now. The artwork for the release, depicting a pair of wings in the shape of a broken heart, can be seen to the right.
Last month, Coldplay revealed another brand new track, ‘Midnight’, and a video directed by Mary Wigmore. The band are set to appear at this year’s South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, performing on the first night of the inaugural iTunes Festival At SXSW. Coldplay will play alongside Imagine Dragons on March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre.
