Le cover song che suonano meglio delle originali? Beh, a volte sì. “Okay, tu scrivi le parole di una canzone, tiri giù un riff, poi aggiungi gli arrangiamenti e il tuo pezzo è fatto, originale e unico nel suo genere”. Sbagliato, questa è la cosa davvero figa della musica: la melodia è la stessa, le parole identiche, anche il ritmo può non cambiare di una virgola, ma dai un brano in mano ai Kiss o ai Replacement e la musica cambia. Letteralmente proprio. E così succede che i Pixies prendono un vecchio pezzo di Neil Young per trasformarlo, o che al contrario, un attempato Johnny Cash prenda un brano bello, ma giusto quel pochino bello, tipo ‘One’ e lo reinterpreti, dandogli un’anima tutta sua, trasformandola quasi in un altro brano. E di esempi così ce ne sarebbero tanti.
